Shopping for new clothes is always a good way to upgrade your look. It’s also easier than coming up with something good. But it wouldn’t be reasonable to change everything in your closet. And you don’t have to.
Besides, there’s something about throwing away those old pair of jeans that practically live in just doesn’t seem right. Plus that old sweater finally looks slouchy enough to be stylish. And here’s some good news, fashion is literally bringing back the past.
Luckily, here are a few tips and tricks you can use to look hot without having to raid your dad’s closet.
- Button up polo shirt – It’s classic and chic. If you don’t have one, get one. It’s an easy way to dress up a casual outfit. A polo shirt is just as comfortable as your old shirt. Well, maybe not THAT comfortable, but it’s definitely good enough to wear on a casual date. Pick one that fits you well, especially on the shoulders to help you achieve a well proportioned look. You should also consider getting one that’s colored. A pop of color, matched with your old pair of jeans, can make the whole outfit look fresh and stylish.
- Well fitted jeans – You don’t need to buy different pairs of jeans; you only need one that looks good on you. Instead of your usual blue or black, how about trying out a new color? Grey or brown can be a good addition to your wardrobe. You’d be surprised at how many of your old shirts look really good matched with grey or brown jeans. Lighter colored jeans instantly upgrade your outfit AND they’re denim. It can’t get any better or comfortable than that.
- Tailored Jacket – You might be thinking “when would I ever need to wear that?” but chances are, you probably know of a few good reasons to wear one. A nice tailored jacket works with everything. Your old shirt and jeans combo will look brand spanking new when you wear a tailored jacket over it. It’s simple yet stylish, and you can wear it for any occasion. Here’s a tip: Colors that work with everything else are burgundy, navy blue, light or dark grey, green and brown.
- Accessories – Sometimes you already have the basics, all you need is that one thing to top off the look. Accessories. It could be a scarf, a silver necklace to match your cufflinks, a brown leather belt, a cool pair of sunglasses, a stylish hat, or a watch. The key is to keep the accessories to a bare minimum of three items.
Sometimes, to have a new look, you have to create it. If you go back to your closet, there’s a good chance you’ll find something good and creative. And if you don’t, it’s probably time to do a little early Christmas shopping.
