During the coldest of winters, even a man’s man can think about skin care. What’s wrong with coming off polished, clean, and healthy? It doesn’t have to be too cosmopolitan does it? Actually, because the skin plays such a huge role in any man’s life, and because modern science has informed us so thoroughly, it’s downright necessary for men to take their skin more seriously.
Sure, there’s a copious amount of data out there on skin care for guys during the warmer summer months, but what about the frigid and stormy days of winter? Here are five things to keep in mind when approaching skincare when Jack Frost is out and about causing mischief.
The Dreaded Moisturizing
If it’s not one thing it’s another. Turns out that winter air is just as good at drying out the skin as the summer sun. Once it’s try flakes start getting all over dark clothes, unsightly cracks appear, and it’s all around unpleasant.
Is it really that hard to buy a quality Aloe Vera moisturizer and apply it on a regular basis for a couple months out of the year? No. On the plus side the stuff is also great for healing up little scratches and wounds. If it’s embarrassing, then just do it in the shower. Speaking of which…
Beef Up That Hygiene Schedule
Because moisturizers are so popular, it’s easy to get big bottles that can last a while. A little bit goes a long ways, which is good, because it’s not only the face that needs the stuff, but the rest of the body as well! Start with the face (shower at least 4 times a week guys!) and then get everything. Or, just add a few drops of great oils to bath water and soak in the comfort! Why not…
Shaving During the Winter
It’s colder out, and the stubble is thicker. Moisturizing cream is great for shaving in the winter versus the traditional shaving cream. Lots of brands these days offer both, especially around winter time. Let it sit for a few minutes, and then shave. Afterwards avoid the stuff that stings, and use some enriched oils or moisturizer!
Detoxify Through Diet
Consume and scarf down metric tons of deep green vegetables. Purchasing a juicer and blender is a very wise thing to do, and the healthier the diet, the better the skin is going to look and feel. Up the amount of fruits and veggies! It will not only increase a guy’s life expectancy but also make skin care during the winter much less of a chore.
Drink How Many Cups Again?
How many times do people need to hear this until it gets through to them. Guys, drink tons of water. A record of drinks throughout the day will cause any excess sugar in the diet to appear. Get rid of pasteurized juices, sports drinks, and other strange modern consumer cocktails and drink a clean glass of water instead. It will mean losing weight, and having far healthier and more vibrant skin.
